Parents say...

For the first time, my daughter picked up a book from the library and was able to read it cover to cover, only needing help on one word. She came and sat beside me and read it aloud and even read "lemon meringue pie" without missing a beat. When we had to leave the house again, she carried her book to the car and kept reading and laughing and holding up the pictures at the end. It was so great! She crossed so many milestones to be able to pick out a book at her level, start reading it on her own, continue reading it without prompting, and then to get so much enjoyment from it. It is the moment I've been waiting for.

My daughter has hit a reading growth spurt these past two months and is chowing through books! She has completed over 40 books in her 9 to 11 range at the library since June. She is now carrying books to the car to read on trips. It has been so fun and so encouraging. You were such a pivotal teacher in my child's life. It was only for a year, but the effect you had will be felt for a lifetime.

My child prospered under Morgan's guidance. Morgan helped us understand that a diagnosis of a learning difficulty is not a permanent roadblock.

Morgan becomes a part of every family she works with, celebrating family accomplishments and happy moments and supporting families through difficult times. Morgan's flexibility in scheduling allows for families to identify optimal times when their child works best and utilize those times for productive tutoring.

Morgan is not rigid; she is fun and interactive with my child and makes tutoring time fun. She uses many different strategies to keep my child engaged in tutor time. She identifies strengths, sets goals, and works to help my child accomplish these goals.

Morgan is able to identify a child's strengths and weaknesses and uses strategies to help the child overcome weaknesses and celebrate strengths. Even across many miles, Morgan is able to keep a child focused on tasks, utilizing a variety of methods that enhance learning.

Our 11 year old daughter has been working with Morgan for a little over a year.  During this time, our daughter’s reading, writing, and comprehension have improved tremendously. Morgan is very upbeat, encouraging and supportive. She customizes and alters her teaching techniques depending on what is or isn’t working.  Morgan also has the ability to discern our daughter’s mood and attitude through observation and listening via our Skype sessions. This has resulted in great rapport between her and our daughter. We love how Morgan is flexible with her schedule when time conflicts arise. Morgan works closely with our daughter's teacher and with us to ensure that we are all working together in a manner that will be most beneficial to our daughter’s learning success. We are grateful to be working with Morgan and to have access to the knowledge of learning issues and the resources she brings for those with learning challenges.

I noticed my daughter struggling with reading when she was in first grade. I addressed it with her school and was told, "She will grow out of this. Don’t worry. It’s nothing serious." In second grade when my daughter continued regressing in her reading, I requested testing for dyslexia. The school psychologist told me that “dyslexia is just a problem with reading” and that there was no testing available. We sought assistance from two different tutors, as well as a private school that specialized in educational programs for children with ADD/ADHD. No one could give me specific lesson plan goals and objectives. By third grade, I saw positive results in the assistance my daughter was getting, but her reading skills weren't improving along with her other skills. In March, 2012 we were introduced to Morgan. Through testing specific for dyslexia, Morgan was able to identify that my daughter did have dyslexia and that her reading level was well below grade level.  My daughter had a fear of reading and would shut down at difficult words. Morgan helped her with these fears and began to build her confidence. Once Morgan had identified my daughter's reading level, we developed a plan on how to help her improve. Over the next two years, through many life experiences, Morgan has been working with our family and assisting my daughter in remarkable ways. My daughter has improved her reading skills by three and a half grade levels in just over two years. As her skills have grown, Morgan has adjusted the types of strategies used to enhance each tutor time and maximize my child's efforts. Morgan has introduced  my daughter to reading with a positive attitude, and now my daughter is improving in many aspects of school.

Morgan was very patient when working with my daughter. Morgan had a calm demeanor and was supportive as my daughter learned the basics of sounding out words and applying new rules. My daughter looked forward to our session with Morgan each week. Even though it was hard work for my struggling reader, Morgan made it fun.

We enjoyed the online platform. I was initially worried about my daughter connecting through an online tutoring session, but it seemed perfectly normal to her. She was excited to connect that way, and it was so convenient. As a mother of four children, it was nice to not have to leave the home and disrupt everyone's schedules for one of the children's tutoring session. My daughter benefited so much from working one-on-one with Morgan. Morgan was able to meet my daughter where she was at and then take her to the next level.

People who know Morgan say...

I've known and worked with Morgan for two years at an elementary school with a highly diverse, low-income population of underserved students. Morgan has the unique talent of holding high expectations for children and families while simultaneously showing them empathy and compassion. She never limits what she believes kids and families can achieve, and she does everything in her power to support them in reaching their full potential. She is a driven professional, a clear communicator, and endlessly committed to the people she serves. She goes beyond the call of duty in every way, and is a natural leader for any organization and community. I feel very fortunate to have learned from Morgan, one of the most genuine, driven educators I know!

For two years, I had the pleasure of working with Morgan in an elementary school setting. One of the first things I noticed about Morgan was her big heart and her passion for helping people--kids, teenager, and adults--reach their full potential. Morgan is personally committed to identifying student needs and crafting personalized plans for success. She does this by staying calm in the face of behavioral or academic challenges. Her tone is thoughtful, patient, and direct. Morgan's dedication to children and families is tireless. She does a fabulous job of communicating with kids and parents to make sure everyone involved has a clear understanding of (and investment in) the path to success. For Morgan, students and families aren't just clients; they are allies. I feel lucky to have worked with such a caring, committed educator.
